Thompson wins 17th annual Oak Barrel

Christian Thompson of Ooltewah broke the tape first at the 17th annual Oak Barrel Half Marathon Saturday morning, finishing ahead of over 1,700 other runners that flooded the streets in and around Lynchburg.

The square will be cookin’ in April

April 25 will see the Inaugural “It’s Still Chili” Cook-Off in Lynchburg, an event sanctioned by the International Chili Society (ICS). There will be four categories, Traditional Red, Homestyle with Jack, Kid’s Cook, and Squires Only. Prize money will be awarded the top winners in each category. The event is set to debut along with the 30th annual Spring in the Hollow.

Regina Joye Qualls, 56

Regina Joye Qualls, 56, of Lynchburg, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 19, 1970, in Tullahoma to the late Billy and Wanda (Smith) Bradford.

Continued 6.9.26 Oseas Velazquez Deleon was charged with failure to display registration plates (dismissed) and driving without a license (Guilty- paying fines and costs) Review 5.5.26 Dismissed Officer Underwood Tyler Bruce Draper Sr was charged with driving on an expired registration (dismissed), DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond $17,000. Officer Leverette Domingo L Espinoza was charged with light law violation and driving without a license.
