Halloween in the Hollow was all treats

Halloween arrived with perfect weather, overcast and slightly cool, but not a drop of rain. By mid-afternoon the crowds started to show up, and show up they did! Trunk or treaters set up their stations, armed with plenty of candy. Thick lines formed and worked their way around the square.
There were pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons, spiders, spider webs, balloons, streamers, cornstalks, witches, goblins, carved whiskey barrels, and Halloween decorations of every kind. With all of the trunk or treat stations set up, the square was certainly decked out for the occasion.
Costumes of every type imaginable were there, for both young and old alike. Every division of the costume contest had a crowded group of contestants. The judges did a great job picking the winners, though it couldn’t have been an easy task.
Besides the candy, there was chili, for which the line seemed endless. There was also popcorn and cotton candy, all in addition to the local restaurants. There was fun music for the dance party. The crowd lingered after dark, and even the Headless Horseman couldn’t scare them away.
The crowd stayed strong well into the evening, and only began to thin as 8 p.m. approached. When the crowd sticks around, that’s a sign that they are having a great time. And so it was.
