About Us

Tucked into the heart of Southern Middle Tennessee is our home, Moore County.

Moore County’s most famous community, Lynchburg, is home to the Jack Daniel’s distillery and 6,461 of our wonderful friends and neighbors. Settled in the early days of the 1800’s, Lynchburg grew to fame as preeminent whiskey makers but also has a rich agricultural heritage dating back to mule-trading and row crops planted in the fertile soil of what became Moore County as she was formed in 1871, carved out of four neighboring counties.

While Cave Spring Hollow and Old Number Seven™ are world-famous, our area’s remarkable characteristic is the feeling of community and pride in our home. It shines through in community events where we stand together and cheer for our MCHS Raiders, enjoy world-class barbeque at the Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbeque competition or sing Christmas carols together at the annual ‘Caroling Around the Courthouse’ event.

The Moore County News has been an important part of this community for nearly a century. We’ve been telling the stories of Lynchburg and Moore County through the best of times and through the toughest times. We continue to serve our community and all six thousand of our friends and neighbors with Moore County’s very own newspaper and this website designed to keep the entire world informed about life, and the news, in this wonderful spot—tucked in the heart of Southern Middle Tennessee and squarely in our own hearts.
