Afriend of mine recently lost his iPhone. I’ll call him Jack, since that’s his name. (He doesn’t read my column, so we’re safe here.) For about 24 hours, Jack’s life was a mess. He couldn’t focus on anything except his missing phone. “My whole life is on that phone,” he said. “My money, my passwords, my pictures. I’m lost without it!”

Metro Moore County General Sessions Court Judge Terry Gregory April 28, 2025 Jason M Aldrich was charged with aggravated assault. Bond $10,000. Continued 6.30.26 Officer Carpenter Gary Wayne Brewer was charged with simple possession, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia. Bond $1,000 Continued 5.19.26 Officer Greene Alton Claude Christian was charged with speeding, violation of financial responsibility law, and driving on a revoked license. Continued 5.19.26 Officer Keele Anthony Scott Clark was charged with driving on a revoked license and failure to stop at all stop signs. Continued 5.19.26 Officer Carson Matthew Christian Corbett was charged with speeding and casual exchange. Charged dismissed and retired. Jail renovation price tag tops $1 million
Sheriff Tyler Hatfield reported to Metro Council at April’s meeting regarding the needed jail renovations. The list includes roof, decking, and rafter repair, upgrading the kitchen and intake areas, and adding beds to the female housing area. The kitchen update will include moving walls and replacing residential appliances with industrial appliances. Upgrading the intake area will also involve moving walls.

Bobby Alfred Womble was born on March 16, 1934, in Moore County to Payton and Eva Patterson Womble. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in Murfreesboro, TN, on April 29, 2026.
