Raiderette season ends in regionals

The Moore County Raiderettes’ season is done after they were eliminated in the first round of the region tournament by Eagleville, 16-1.
The season-ending loss came after the Raiderettes were able to claw themselves to a second place finish in the district with huge wins over Cornersville and Huntland to give them a shot at the regionals.
In the semi-finals of the district, the Raiderettes were able to avenge a 9-2 loss at the beginning of the tournament to Huntland with a 13-11 win that catapulted them into the regions and eliminated the Lady Hornets.
Huntland was able to get an advantage when they scored seven in the bottom of the third to take a 7-5 lead. Moore County had led 5-0 until that time. The Raiderettes plated two in the fifth and three in the seventh and outhit the Hornets 13-to-11 on the night. Lailar Logan had a huge night as she was 3-for-5 with two runs and one RBI while Abbie Bateman was 3-for4 with a run and two RBIs. Meanwhile, Reagan Ross was the RBI queen as she knocked in four and scored two. Anna Deaton also had a good evening with three RBI. Rian Ross had a pair of hits as did Kenzie Howard who also had two RBI. Kinsley Miller and Lailar Logan combined in the circle.
Prior to getting their chance against Huntland Moore County Raiderettes rebounded after losing the opening game of the district tournament to Huntland by defeating and eliminating the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs 10-9.
It was a back-loaded game for the Raiderettes as they were faced with a win-or-go-home situation. They found themselves down 9-0 at the bottom of the fifth but were able to sneak in a run to cut the deficit to 9-1. They then came alive, scoring four in the sixth and five more in the seventh for the win.
The winning rally in the bottom of the seventh with two outs already on the board, meaning Moore County had only one out between them and the end of their season. However, the Raiderettes had been able to get base runners on board during the inning thanks to a combination of hits and walks. Those walks ended up costing Cornersville dearly Kenzie Howard scored on a passed ball as did Reagan Ross. The Bulldogs made it a trifecta of defensive misery when Whitney Fanning was brought in by a passed ball, ending the game and the Bulldog season.
Lailar Logan was key in the awakening of the Raiderette offense as she boomed a home run and was responsible for four RBI. Rian Ross was 2-for-4 at the dish and had an RBI. Reagan Ross was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Jenny Sanders also enjoyed a two-hit game. Whitney Fanning was 1-for-2 from the plate but was walked two times, scoring twice and accounting for an RBI. Kenzie Howard also scored twice. Bailey Dunn worked three innings while Kinsley Miller worked four as they combined to strike out four Bulldogs.
The win came after they fell in the first round to Huntland, 9-2. The Raiderettes were outhit in the loss 12-to-5 with Jenny Sanders having the only multi -hit night, going 2-for-3 with a run. Abbie Bateman scored the other run.
The wins over Cornersville and Huntland were the highlights of the postseason for the Raiderettes as they were defeated 12-2 by Richland in the finals of the district and then fell to 16-1 to Eagleville in the regional opener.
