School Board grants tenures, reviews budget
Four Moore County teachers have been approved for tenure at May’s School Board meeting. Jennifer Bird, Debbie Sitlow, Holly White, and Chris White all met state qualifi cations for tenure, and were all approved by unanimous vote, with Jamie Cashion being absent.
METRO MOORE COUNTY UTILITY DEPARTMENT
The Metro Utility Department’s budget was the main topic of May’s board meeting. The 2026-2027 budget sees few changes from this year’s budget other than allowing for rising costs of business. Last year’s projections for the 20252026 budget were on target, with revenues being slightly higher than projected.
Director Moorehead addresses Planning Commission
Director of Schools Chad Moorehead spoke to the Planning and Zoning Commission at May’s meeting to give an update on school enrollment. Though enrollment has seen a steady increase in recent years, this year’s enrollment jumped by 44 students. Though that number may not seem like a lot, with average class sizes running between 65 and 75 students from year to year, that number is close to a whole new graduating class.
