The jobs of mayor and sheriff will held by familiar faces as both Mayor Sloan Stewart and Sheriff Tyler Hatfield won reelection this past week.

In the race for Metro Mayor, Stewart nearly doubled up challenger Keith Moses, winning another term 1,218 to 741.

The margin was wider in the race for sheriff as incumbent Tyler Hatfield ran away with a 1,570 to 417 victory over challenger William Raline. Like Stewart, Hatfield won all five precincts along with early voting and absentees.

County Court Clerk saw Lacy Ivey defeat Kelly Harrison 1,172 to 819. The offices for county trustee, circuit court clerk and register of deeds were walk overs with no competition with County Trustee Lynn Harrison getting 1,830 complementary votes; Circuit Court Clerk Linda S. Wolaver getting 1,805 and Register of Deeds Pam Wells getting 1,875 complementary votes.

For Metro Council, Sunny Rae Moorehead won an unexpired term in District 1 by a count of 193 to 149 over Jerry Burks Jr. In District 2 the three top vote getters were elected. They included Payton Keller with 201, Douglas Anthony Carson II with 188 and Robert Bracewell with 142. Not making the cut were Jenny Gold Saddler with 136, Michelle Riddle with 120 and Wade Hampton Hoffman with 62.

In District 3 the three winners included John Oosting with 234, Dexter Golden with 220 and Jayson Estfon with 208. Not making the cut were Houston D. Lindsey with 162 and Christopher Benson with 155.

In District 5 the winners included Brady Goodwin with 241, Brandon Ross with 145 and Regina Adcock with 136. Not making the cut were Cody Ryan Lanier with 128 and Whitney Ross with 123.

In the school board race, no one qualified in District 1 and Greg Thompson won in District 3 with 391 complementary votes.

The final election report revealed that 2,033 votes were cast with over half that number, 1,236 coming during early voting. As for the state and federal primaries there were 1,636 who voted Republican and 267 voting Democrat. There were 130 who chose to vote in the just the local elections and not participate in the primaries.

Those who voted in the GOP Primary for governor chose the eventual winner, Marsha Blackburn as their candidate as she had 640 votes to 559 for Monty Fritts and 403 for John Rose. Blackburn took 43% of the vote statewide while Rose took almost 33% and Fritts 23%.

The Democrats chose Jerri Green as their candidate for governor with 149 votes. No other candidate drew more than 39 votes with that distinction going to Camita Atwater. Green dominated with 69% of the vote across the state.

On the state level, Brent Taylor of Eades in west Tennessee was selected as the Republican representative for the new 9^th District that stretches from Moore County to downtown Memphis with 46% (31,057 votes) of the votes. Moore County also chose Taylor with 585 votes. Todd Warner was second with 26%, Jeremy Thompson third with almost 20% and Charlotte Bergmann last with 7%.

Taylor will take on Justin J. Pearson of Memphis who crushed his opponents with 65% (32,092) votes. Moore County Democrats also went with Pearson giving him 118 votes. London Lamar had 24%, M. LaTroy Williams 6% and Jim Torino with 3%.
