Raiders snap losing streak

The Moore County High School Raiders Varsity snapped their four-game losing streak by beating Community 9-5.
The win came in a front loaded game where the teams combined to plate 12 runs in the first two innings. The Raiders came out of the first two innings with a 7-5 lead and were able to notch two more in the top of the ninth.
The Raiders outhit their hosts 8-to-6 with Kohlby Williams and Rylan Stovall leading their squads with two hits apiece. Williams also scored two run and had an RBI while Stovall had two RBI. Jose Garcia chimed in with a pair of runs and a pair of RBI. Cole Taylor plated a pair of runs and an RBI.
Colton Morey worked the whole way on the hill, striking out seven on 115 pitches.
Meanwhile the redhot Junior Varsity Raiders ended their four-inning tilt with Community in a 2-2 tie due to time constraints. Community drew even with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and the game ended deadlocked. Both teams had only two hits with Jace Deal and Carter Zerhusen getting the hits. Caden Clark and Deal both scored runs. Nick Smith pitched most of the way, striking out three. Gavin Wise threw four pitches in relief.
Cascade came in and spoiled the celebration in their next game, getting a 6-0 over the Raiders in a game where Moore County had only hit, that provided by Kohlby Williams.
However, the Raiders got back their mojo in their very next game as they blasted Rocket City 15-5.
It was a one-sided affair at the plate as the Raiders outhit their opponents 18-to-3 with several Raiders playing key roles in the romp. Cole Taylor came up big as he was 3-for-5 with the bat, scoring two and driving in three RBI. Jose Garcia joined the party, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Jace Deal jumped in with a 3-for-4 performance at the dish, adding an RBI. Deacon Liles was 2-for-4 and provided a run and two RBI. Williams as 2-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in. Cody Burton was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Nick Smith was 2-for-3 with two runs and a run batted in. When it came to two baggers, six Raiders had doubles including Braylynn Hill, Garcia, Smith, Burton, Williams and Liles.
Three Raiders combined on the mound for the win with Carter Zerhusen working the first two innings with three strike outs. Hill worked the next three and fanned four and Crew Costello closed it out and struck out two.
