Table Talk

What a glorious day each Easter Sunday brings as we reflect on the stone that was rolled away to reveal Jesus was in fact alive!
“The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.” Luke 24:7.
It is easy to go about our busy week after Easter and sub-cautiously allow the joy and miracle of the day drift to the back of our minds. What would it be like if each of us lived with the spirit of Resurrection Sunday in our hearts every day? I can’t imagine the devastation Jesus’ followers had while walking away from their entire future nailed to a tree. The darkness that came over the earth when He took His last breath and the life that also slipped away within each of those who loved Him is more than my heart can comprehend. We are all fortunate enough to know how the story ends, but to have been a part of this shift in eternity would have been too much to bear. I imagine nothing they knew made sense and all hope was completely lost as they looked on at His lifeless body. Perhaps you too can connect with this loss His disciples felt in this moment.
Maybe you have experienced the loss of a loved one, the loss of a marriage or even the loss of a dream that left you wondering about tomorrow. The beautiful revelation within Jesus’ death and resurrection is a glimpse into the absolute truth of God’s Word. Jesus is the ultimate promise keeper, Hallelujah! His followers could not see the light that would come on day three, but Jesus was already there. As He stood with nail inflicted hands before them, we must not overlook that Jesus’ first uttered words, “Peace be with you”, were words of hope and encouragement! “ And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” Luke 24:38-39.
This Jesus you read about in Luke 24 is the same Jesus today, tomorrow and forever more. May you take the spirit of Sunday and bury it within your heart knowing that all the stones and burdens we carry can never be too big to hold Jesus’ power captive! What would happen if we lived with the spirit of the Resurrection in our hearts each day…….BREAKTHROUGH! “ And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.” Luke 24:35.
The absolute LOVE that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ displays is proof that hope is on the horizon so long as you are willing to wait on Him. The disciples were unaware of the days to come, but if they had known the miracle that was to take place their testimony and lives would have not been the same. I encourage you this week to share your testimony with others and tell about the stones that were rolled away in your life that revealed the overwhelming love of our Savior. He deserves all our praise not just on Easter Sunday, but every day we are given the opportunity to rise ourselves.
“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.” Luke 24:46-48.
