Moore Middle on 10-game winning streak

The Moore County Middle School baseball squad has not lost since March 2 as they have strung together 10 consecutive wins to sit at 11-3 on the season.
The run started after they lost a pair, one by a count of 9-5 to LMS and the other a 13-1 drubbing by Cascade. However, since that one-sided affair, the Raiders have been tested but not beaten as they boast consecutive wins over Cascade, Winchester Christian in a home and away, a pair over Huntland in a home and away, a two-game sweep of Fayetteville and most recently a 23-5 crushing of Community, a 6-4 win over Forrest and a 2-0 win over Liberty.
Their win over Liberty came despite their having only one hit with William Thompson doing the honors. The Raiders scored in the top of the second and top of the third. Meanwhile, the Liberty pitchers combined to strike out 14 Raiders. On the other side, Beau Switzer was sharp on the mound as he struck out four on 78 pitches and did not surrender a run.
In the game prior, the Moore County Middle School Raiders surrendered just two hits to the Forrest Rockets while getting five hits themselves. Scout Murray was on his game as he was 2-for-3 with a run while Austin Scherff was 2-for-3 with a run in and RBI. Sully Townes was 1-for-2 with two RBI. Both he and Scherff hit triples while Scherff also hit a double-bagger. Scherff and Laken Wade combined to fan 13 Rockets while walking six.
Meanwhile, in their blowout win over Community, the Raiders outhit the Vikings 14-to-8 and ended the game on a knockout punch, scoring 11 in the sixth. Scherff was on fire as he went 3-for-3 at the dish with a run and three RBI. Murray was 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBI while Brantly Chapin was 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Townes was 2-for-2 with two runs and four RBI and hit a homerun. Scherff had a triple and a double while he along with Murray and Sawyer Boyce had doubles. Clay Moses worked most of the way on the hill, fanning eight. Grayson Hill came in to relieve him and fanned two in one inning of work.
