Primary, General Election fields set

W ith the February 19 deadline to qualify for running for some county offices, there has been a flurry of activity right down to that deadline. For the offices of Sheriff, County Trustee, County Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk, Register of Deeds, and School Board Districts 1 and 3, petitions must be filed by the February 19 deadline. Due to the May primary, the qualifying deadline for these offices was earlier than the March 10 deadline.
All of the above offices will appear on the May 5 primary ballot. Barring a write-in candidate, there will be no names associated with any of the offices except Sheriff, as it is a Republican Primary. All of the qualifying candidates for these offices, with the exception of William Raline, have declared as nonpartisan. As such, their names will appear on the August County General Election along with the offices of Mayor and Metro Council Districts 1, 2, 3, and 5.
