Cascade snaps Middle School win streak

Cascade stopped a four-game winning streak by the Moore County Middle School Raiderettes with a close 4-3 win.
The loss ended the four-game win streak that saw the Raiderettes beat Liberty 11-1, Huntland 15-3, Fayetteville 15-1 and Richland 15-13.
The loss came in the form of a walkoff win by the Lady Champions as they were able to generate two runs in the bottom of the seventh for the home win. The Raiderettes had led the whole game leading up to the seventh and had outhit their hosts 7-to-4 on the evening. A lot of that domination was due to Haven Hornaday who tore it up, going 4-for-4 at the dish with a run and two RBI. She was the only Raiderette with multiple hits. Lily Smith worked the whole way from the circle and fanned six on 89 pitches.
Leading into the loss, the Raiderettes were hanging runs on their opponents. In the case of Richland, it took all their Raiderettes could get as the squads combined for 28 journeys across the plate. The Raiderettes started hot as they scored five in the first, two in the second, and three in both the third and fourth inning. The Richland bats finally woke up in the top of the fifth with five runs, before notching two in the sixth and mounting a moderate run in the top of the seventh when they plated four runs. The Lady Raiders outhit the Raiderettes 11-to 8. Rylee Logan had the lone multi-hit game for Moore County as she was 2-for-3 with the stick, scoring two and batting in a run. Baylee Thomas and Emmy Thomas both had two RBI.
In their rout of Fayetteville, two would have been plenty but the Raiderettes went ahead and scored 15. They outhit the city girls 9-to-2 and pretty much put away in the game in the second with eight runs. The fourth finished it as they plated six more. Baylee Thomas and Lily Smith both had two hits with Smith accounting for three RBI. Smith shut Fayetteville down from the circle, striking out five on 50 pitches.
