The Moore County Middle School baseball team went on a three game winning streak this past week, winning both ends of a double header over Winchester Christian after defeating Cascade the week prior.

The first game saw an exciting ending as the Raiders won in walk off fashion 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh over WCA. The winning hit came off the bat of Scout Murray who hit a laser to left field which scored Laken Wade who had gotten on base earlier in the inning with a single and then had advanced to scoring position with a steal.

The walk off broke a 5-5 tie which came about when WCA plated five runs in the top of the fifth. Prior to that Moore County had held the lead the entire way, going up 4-0 after two before WCA began chiseling at the lead, adding runs in the third and fourth before their big inning in the fifth. Moore County was able to even things in the bottom of the fifth to set up the fireworks that ended the game on their last bat of the contest.

Moore County outhit WCA 7-to-3 with William Thompson, Laken Wade and Scout Murray having tw0-hit games. Thompson led his team with two RBI and had a double.

The three hits allowed by the Raiders were divided equally between three pitchers, Austin Scherff, who pitched three innings, Laken Wade, who pitched three and Grayson Hall who closed the game. They combined to fan four batters while walking 10.

The second game of the home and away series was not as dramatic after the third inning as the Raiders erased a 5-1 deficit with four in the third and three in the fourth on the way to a 13-5 win. It was actually one-sided at the plate as WCA only had one hit to 17 by the Raiders. However, Moore County did commit five fielding errors which helped WCA get out of the gate fast.

The rally in the third was started by Brantly Chapin who was 4-for-5 at the dish, scoring three runs. Scout Murray was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Grayson Hill, Austin Scherff, Sully Townes and Sawyer Boyce all had two hits apiece in the winning effort with Townes accounting for two RBI.

Cayden Mullins worked the first inning from the hill, surrendering all five of the runs to WCA as he walked six on 50 pitches. Clay Moses replaced him, working the last five innings, fanning two and walking two on 71 pitches.
