Lynchburg enjoys annual Frontier Days

Frontier Days opened this year to a sunny Friday afternoon as owners brought in their favored cars and trucks for the Cruise In. Old and new, standard to souped up, they made a great showing on the square. FCE had the Cultural Art Exhibit set up in the IBIS Building, the kiddie rides were geared up, the Chicken Poop Bingo chicken was ready to “go,” the kids showed off their leg strength with the tractor pull, and 90 Proof got some good old bluegrass going at the gazebo. Good times!

Saturday started early with a questionable sky, but the clouds disappeared by late morning. It was a hot one, but there were some good breezes that made it more comfortable. Vendors around the square offered food, beverages, and arts and crafts. The square merchants were wide open as well.
Every thirty minutes to an hour saw new exhibits, games, music, or activities for the kids and adults alike. The Lodge skillet toss was popular, and the tractor show and parade was quite impressive, as was the kids’ parade with all manner of decorated bikes, power wheels, strollers, and scooters. There was the apple pie contest and the wing contest for foodies.
The Magic Voice Singers performed at the gazebo. Eian Rivera brought his music and dance party and had the square jumping. Cody Cozz put on a show with classic country and some classic rock and roll. Then Saturday night closed with a bang, the America 250 fireworks show. A great time was had by all.
