Raiders eliminated from District

The District tournament for the Moore County Raiders was two and done as they fell in back-to-back games to Huntland and Cornersville.

The Raiders were unable to generate any offense in the opening game against Huntland, falling 3-0 to the Hornets. The Raiders had lost their two earlier clashes with their district foe during the regular season.

The Raiders went behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first and the Hornets led throughout, scoring one more run in the fourth. They outhit the Raiders 7-to-4. Cole Taylor, Jace Deal, Deacon Liles and Braylynn Hill accounted for the three hits. Cole Taylor worked the first five innings on the hill and Jose Garcia finished the final inning.

The Raiders were put out of the tournament by Cornersville in an 8-6 game. The Raiders had beaten the Bulldogs in both meetings during the regular season; however, the third time was not the charm in the elimination game.

The fourth inning was the key as the Raiders held a 4-2 advantage going into the fourth but gave up four runs in the top half of the innings. The Bulldogs would lead the rest of the way. The Bulldogs outhit the Raiders 12-to-9 on the night. Jace Deal had a good night at the plate as he was 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Luke Stephens was 2-for-3, scoring one and knocking in one while Brodie Howard was 2-for-3 with a run. Colton Morey had one hit which was a double and he knocked in three.

The trio of Crew Costello, Carter Zerhusen and Colton Morey worked the hill for the Raiders.
