Raiderettes down Dawgs in score fest

Cornersville and Moore County combined for 27 hits and 10 errors in an offensive tilt won by the Raiderettes 17-11.

The Raiderettes took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth and didn’t look back after they plated eight runs in the home half of the inning. Prior to the explosion the game had been a back-and-forth affair in which Cornersville actually outhit Moore County 16-to-11. However, while outhitting the Raiderettes, the Lady Bulldogs inadvertently gave Moore County collateral on the base paths as they walked a dozen Raiderettes. Meanwhile the pitching tandem of Bailey Dunn and Kinsley Miller only walked a total of four on the night as Dunn worked the first two and Miller finished off the game in the circle, working the last five innings. They combined to hurl 145 pitches in the win.

As for offense, the Raiderettes had plenty with Abbie Bateman getting three hits on five trips to the plate. She scored a run and knocked in three. Ellie Carter was 2-for-5 with the stick, getting two hits and three RBI. Lailar Logan was 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI while Reagan Ross was 1-for-3 at the dish with two runs and two RBI. Rian Ross was hitless at the dish but drew three walks and scored two runs. Jenny Sanders also made lemonade out of lemons as she was hitless but drew two walks and converted both into runs. Kinsley Miller was perfect at the plate as she drew a walk every time she stepped into the batter’s box. She parlayed the walks into a run and two RBI.

The Raiderettes took it on the chin for the second time this season from Huntland as they fell 16-2 Monday. The Raiderettes got only three hits, those coming from the bats of Rian Ross, Ellie Carter and Kenzie Howard. Carter and Lailar Logan scored the two runs. Bailey Dunn, Kinsley Miller and Logan combined in the circle.
