Coach Spencer takes Eaglette helm

After a pair of runs to the state championship, Moore County Raiderette Chad Spencer has accepted the job of head coach for Shelbyville Central Eaglettes.
“We are saddened to see Coach Spencer leave, but we wish him the best in his new position,” said Moore County High School Principal Josh Deal. “He did a great job for the Moore Co girls program while he was here. Although there are big shoes to fill, we have a lot of high quality candidates who have applied, and we are looking forward to getting someone in place for these girls who will continue to grow them on and off the floor.”
For Spencer, taking the job at Shelbyville is a homecoming of sorts as he is a graduate of Shelbyville Central and had served as an assistant coach for the squad there when they won four state titles.
Spencer served as head girls’ basketball coach at Moore County High School, where he led his team to a TSSAA State Runner-Up finish in 2024 and a State Quarterfinal appearance in 2025. His teams earned multiple district and region championships. For his accomplishment, Spencer was named the 2024 Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee Pat Summitt Coach of the Year.
Along with his time as Moore County coach, Spencer served on the coaching staff at the University of Mississippi, where he contributed to opponent scouting, film analysis, game-planning and player development at the SEC Division I level.
Outside of his on-court success, Spencer has served in the United States Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Middle Tennessee State University and an associate degree from Motlow State Community College.
