Eaglettes force split of season series

Shelbyville paid back Moore County bigtime in the second half of their home and away series, avenging their 7-5 loss to the Raiderettes with a 19-7 receipt Monday.

The second inning proved to be the downfall for Moore County as they surrendered eight runs to the Eaglettes. A six-run fourth erased some of the deficit but the home team was able to pound nine runs in the bottom half of the fourth to put the game away.

The teams were similar at the plate with Shelbyville outhitting their guests 13-to-11. However, the Raiderettes committed eight fielding errors while the Eaglettes were flawless in the field. Offensively, the Raiderettes were sound with Ellie Carter leading the way with a perfect 3-for-3 showing at the plate. She also scored a run. Meanwhile freshman Lailar Logan was a run producer as she had four RBI and run scored on her 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Helping spur her success in clearing the base paths were a double and triple off her bat. Rian Ross had a good night as she was 2-for-4 at the dish with two runs and a run batted in. Bailey Dunn was 2-for-2 on the night.

Three Raiderettes combined on the mound with Abbie Bateman starting the night and Kinsley Miller working three full innings. Bailey Dunn closed the show throwing 28 pitches at the end.
