Halloween in the Hollow this Saturday

Halloween in the Hollow will take place this Saturday, October 31, providing safe and fun activities for kids of all ages. Festivities begin at 2 p.m. with a Jack-OLantern contest at the Gazebo. At 3:30 p.m. the square will close to traffic, and Trunk or Treat participants will set up their stations. Prizes will be awarded for the top three station decorations.

At 5 p.m. there will be a welcome message, and trick or treating will begin. The costume contest starts at 5:15 p.m. There will be awards for the top three finalists in each division. The divisions will be Pre-K, K-2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grades, 5th and 6th grades, Junior High, High School, Adult, and Groups. If past years are any indication, there will be plenty of creative (and adorable) costumes in every division.

Trick or Treaters beware, the Headless Horseman will be riding onto the square at 6:40 p.m. As soon as he is gone, the Dance Party will get started at 6:45 p.m. That will be a fun way for the kids to burn off some of those treats they have been eating! Then, finally, the Headless Horseman returns for his last ride this year at 7:30 p.m.

Long range weather forecasting indicates a high of about 65 degrees, with a low of 43 degrees. The chance of rain is low, at 24%. It appears that it should be a fine day to celebrate Halloween for the kids. Costumed or not, all are invited to show up and enjoy this year’s Halloween in the Hollow.
