The Moore County Raiders are set to run it back with the only team that beat them this year but this time it is for all the marbles as they attempt avenge their only blemish by getting payback on Unity and win the conference title.

The title game is set for 6 p.m. Thursday in Lincoln County as they square off with the boys from Petersburg with the prize being the conference championship. The Raiders go into the game on a hot streak as they have not lost since week-two of the season. They concluded their regular season with a 36-0 thrashing of rival Huntland 36-0 – a win that first year head coach Logan Jean said was a good way to keep momentum going into the championship game.

“Huntland was a good overall win for us,” he said, noting the team was able to look past distractions. “It was fall break for us so we had to stay focused.

Kurt Smith had a big day as signal caller for the Raiders as he threw four TD passes. Meanwhile, Anderson Gunter had a big day on the ground, churning up yardage throughout the win. The defense again stood firm.

The defense played lights out again,” the coach said. “I’m proud of our defense this year for always bringing the physicality.”

The defense has shutout six teams this year as they started out the season by blanking Cornersville 8-0 and then going on a tear of three consecutive games without surrendering a point, shutting out South Giles 36-0, Highland Rim 42-0 and Flintville 44-0 before blanking South Franklin 16-0 and their 36-0 win over the Hornets last week. Aside from their loss in the heat to Unity in Week 2, only South Lincoln has been close as the Raiders won that game 16-12 in a contest that came down to the last play. The Raiders have surrendered just 20 points all season.
