Middle School Raiders take pair from Huntland

The Middle School Raiders stretched their winning streak to five, sweeping a home and away series over Huntland.

In the opening game of the homeaway series, the Raiders won 9-1 after blowing out the game in the fourth inning with a trio of runs, followed by a five-run fifth. The game was tied 1-1 after the opening inning and remained that way until the top of the fourth when the Raider bats came alive. The Raiders outhit the Hornets 6-to-4 on the night.

Brantly Chapin was 2-for-4 in the contest, scoring a run and knocking in another. Sully Townes was 2-for-3 at the dish, scoring two and blasting in four RBI.

On the hill for the win were the trio of Laken Wade, Austin Scherff and Sawyer Boyce. The combined to fan seven and walk only two during the contest.

The Raiders kept their winning ways going in the second of the twin bill as they beat Huntland 6-4 after leading the whole after the first inning. They ended up outhitting their guests 7-to-5 on a day that saw Chapin come up huge as he was a perfect e-for-3 at the plate, scoring a trio of runs. Scout Murray had a good outing, as he was 2-for-2 with the stick, scoring a run.

Clay Moses worked most of the way on the hill, striking out four and walking three on 72 pitches. Sawyer Boyce came in and threw just two pitches at the end to close out the game.
