Spring in the Hollow celebrates the season

The early rain gave way to a beautiful day for this year’s Spring in the Hollow. While local folk showed up in force, tourists fortunate enough to have planned the day in Lynchburg were treated to a day full of fun. For the early birds there were the LES PTO Vibin’ in the Hollow 5K and the 1-mile Color Run, and the Lucky Duck race.
By nine the vendors were open on the square, with plants galore, arts and crafts, sweet treats, and rustic vintage items. The barrel planter sale was another favorite. The ever-popular bird house auction drew entries from the rustic to the majestic. The MCHS silent auction offered an array of items for bid. By day’s end, some vendors had completely sold out their wares.
By 10 the mouthwatering scent of steak sandwiches wafted over the square and drew a hungry crowd. For those wanting lighter fare, the FCE Club sold fresh salads at the Masonic Lodge. And over at the Whisky Trailhead the “It’s Still Chili” cookoff was under way. Miss Mary Bobo’s offered takeout meals, after an early morning sidewalk sale. Meme & Pa-G’s Grill food truck on the square and the restaurants on the square rounded out food options.
All in all, Lynchburg’s Spring in the Hollow annual event was another smashing success. Celebrating spring, supporting local businesses and worthy causes, and having a lot of fun doing it is just how we roll down here in the Hollow!
