The partially burned remains of an unidentified female were found early Monday morning in the Awalt Bridge area of Franklin County.
A passing motorist who noticed a grass fire on the side road notified police.
Deputies discovered the body of a white female between the ages of 18-25 with dark hair and a tattoo of a large star with smaller stars on the inside on the back of her neck.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were on the lookout for a red 1995 Mustang with license plate number 533-SBB reported stolen and believed to be involved in the woman’s death.
Police say they found the vehicle in Normandy.
Authorities said the victim’s name is being withheld until positive identification can be made by the state medical examiner’s office, and police are satisfied that all family members have been notified.
