Baker, Vernon S., 69, of Lynchburg, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Spokane, Wash., on May 1, 1944 to the late David S. and Ella Hathaway Baker. He was employed as an auto mechanic, was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Lori Lea Baker; sister, Carol Betz; and brothers-in-law, Ray Holt and Ed Betz. Mr. Baker is survived by wife, Alexa Edde Baker of Lynchburg; daughters, Benita and Brian Moyers of Meridianville, Ala.; Bonnie and Tommy Boyett of Lynchburg; sisters, Catherine and Cliff Truman of Florida, Sharon Holt of Salem, Ore.; brother, Wendell and Kathleen Baker of Oregon City, Ore.; and grandchildren, Kayla Moyers, Hannah Moyers, Nathan Houser, Katie Houser, Kole Boyett and Jacob Boyett. Funeral services were held Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Clardy officiating. Burial followed in Lynchburg Cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday, May 18. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvary Baptist Youth Department, P.O. Box 884, Fayetteville, TN 37334.
