United Way hosting murder mystery dinner theater Nov. 7

10-24-13 murder-mystery-02The last thing you would expect at a charity dinner is murder, but that’s exactly what diners will get at the annual United Way of Coffee and Moore counties fundraiser sponsored by American City Bank.

The Murder Mystery Company, a nationwide theater troupe that specializes in interactive mysteries, will send Nashville-based actors to present the two-hour murder mystery “The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year” Thursday, Nov. 7 at Lakewood Golf and Country Club.

“We provide costumes and characters for some of the more outgoing members of the audience and the true killer could be anybody — including you,” said founder Scott Cramton.

And while crime doesn’t pay, solving one can. The Murder Mystery Company offers prizes to participants who solve the mystery and to those who have the most creative wrong answers.

The mystery dinner is a departure for United Way, which for the last three years held a New Year’s Eve event at Lakewood.

“We were looking for something different,” said United Way Executive Director Sande Hayes. “You can’t do that same thing all the time, it gets old.”

The cost is $35 per person. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. show.

“That’s cheaper than a lot of non-profit events,” said Hayes, who said she was able to keep the price down by getting a sponsorship.

“American City Bank has been great. They followed us over from the New Year’s Eve event to this one.”

President and CEO Troy Martin said, “American City Bank is excited about the opportunity to be a sponsor of the United Way Murder Mystery. United Way is a strong supporter of many organizations in this community and we look forward to their continued success.”

Additional sponsors include Stan McNabb Automotive and Lester, Greene and McCord Insurance.

To make reservations, call the United Way at (931) 455-5678 or send a check made out to “United Way” to P.O. Box 27, Tullahoma, TN 37388.

United Way of Coffee and Moore Counties supports 13 local non-profit agencies including CASA Works, Shepherd’s House, Contact Lifeline, Haven of Hope, Poison Lifeline, and Coffee County Humane Society.
