Two Motlow College student-athletes have been recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their academic performances during the 2012-13 academic and athletic school year.
Softball player Roxanne Hillman was presented the Superior Academic Achievement Award for her 3.85 grade point average (GPA), while baseball player Andrew Mullendore was presented the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award for his 3.69 GPA.
The Superior Academic Achievement Award is presented to student athletes who complete the academic year with a GPA between 3.75-3.99. The Exemplary Academic Achievement Award is presented to student athletes who complete the year with a GPA between 3.5-3.74.
Hillman is from Clintwood, Va. and was a pitcher for Tori Raby-Gentry’s Lady Bucks team. Mullendore is from Murfreesboro and pitched for Dan McShea’s Bucks baseball team.
Both graduated from Motlow recently, and both plan to continue their education at four-year institutions.
During the 2013 season, Mullendore appeared seven times, making two saves and compiling a record of 1-2. In 15.1 innings of work, Mullendore compiled an ERA of 5.87.
In her last season as a Lady Buck, Hillman compiled an overall record of 8-7 and in 98 innings of work on the mound, maintained an ERA of 1.93. During her two seasons at Motlow, Hilman pitched 257 innings, producing a career ERA of 2.56 and a 20-19 record.
