The TSSAA Board of Control will meet on Wednesday, July 22, at 1 p.m. and it may finally render a decision on football for the fall.

The meeting will be a study session to discuss possible classification plans for the next classification cycle. But more importantly, the board will also address contingency plans for football and girls soccer, as well as regulations put together by the staff and Governor’s office for all fall sports in regards to precautions for participation during the pandemic.

The meeting will be live streamed via YouTube.

As many as five options are being considered for football, including starting the season on time if practice can begin Aug. 3. The other options include playing region-only games, moving early-season games to later in the season and extending the season without playoffs.
