Tracy says he won’t run for U.S. Congress

Posted on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 2:30 pm

Moore County’s state senator, Jim Tracy, announced Monday morning via Twitter that he has no plans to run for Congress in 2012. Instead, Senator Tracy says he’ll seek re-election in Tennessee’s 14th State Senate District, which includes Moore, Rutherford and Bedford counties and now parts of Lincoln and Marshall counties thanks to the new state-redistricting plan. (For more information of the redistricting map, visit www.capitol.tn.gov/senate/redist/redistricting.html.)

“I am excited about the new 14th State Senate District. I am honored to continue to represent the constituents of Rutherford, Bedford, and Moore Counties and I look forward to having the opportunity to represent new constituents in Lincoln and Marshall Counties. I am committed to continuing my work on state issues to make Tennessee a better place to work and live, especially in the areas of job creation, education and transportation.”
