LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Jim Sanders has been selected to replace longtime Moore County Administrator of Elections Judy Copeland.

At its Sept. 26 meeting, the Moore County Election Commission voted to hire Sanders as the new Moore County Administrator of Elections. Copeland is stepping down in October from the position she’s held for 30-plus years.

According to the Election Commission, there were 12 applicants for the position.

“(We) are very appreciative to have received so much interest from so many qualified applicants,” the Commission said in a press release.

The Election Commission considered eight areas of skills and qualifications in advertising for the position: computer experience, election experience, fiscal matters, teaching experience, office supervision experience, voting systems experience, educational/learning achievement and voter registration experience.

Through the resume process Sanders demonstrated the qualifications, integrity and background to serve the citizens of Moore County in this capacity.
