Raiders struggle in Lookout Valley Tourney

The Raiders traveled to Lookout Valley to participate in a three-day tournament that featured a team from Georgia and schools from the area. The Lookout Valley field is nestled in a small community on the north side of Chattanooga. The young Raiders won one game and lost three but competed and developed as a team. In the opening game of the tournament on Thursday 4/13, the Raiders never got on track against a good Rockwood team losing 12-0. The tone of the contest was set in the first inning when Rockwood hit a solo home run to left. The Raiders failed to score despite out-hitting Rockwood five to four. The Raiders made five errors and walked twelve contributing to a majority of Rockwood’s runs. Coy Cashion led the Raiders with two hits. Dylan Knight had a double. Jimmy Stewart and T a n n e r W o m b l e each had hits. Carson Templeton started the game for the Raiders going one inning all o w i n g five runs on one hit and striking out one. W omble relieved Templeton in the second giving up seven runs on three hits and striking out two. In the second game Thursday night 4/13, the Raiders bounced back and defeated Lookout Valley in a back-and-forth contest 10-7. Raiders took an early lead in the first inning when Carson Templeton drove in two runs when he singled with two outs. The Raiders fell behind in the top of the fifth 7-5 when they gave up four runs on just two hits. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the 5th when Coy Cashion doubled driving in three runs and putting the Raiders ahead for good. Ryder Morey earned the win for Raiders. He pitched one inning giving up two runs and two hits. Cashion started the game on the mound for the Raiders. He threw four innings giving up five runs, three hits, and striking out five. Raiders had eight hits in the game. Cashion and Womble led the Raiders with two hits each. On Friday 4/14, Cascade avenged their loss earlier in the season to the Raiders. Cascade pounded out eleven hits with one home run and three doubles. Dylan Knight and Ryder Morey collected one hit each for the Raiders. Clay Burnett took the loss for Raiders. He tossed four and two-thirds innings, giving up six runs, seven hits, walking five, and striking out three. Cameron Pykiet relieved Burnett in the fifth giving up three runs on four hits, walking one and striking out five. In the final game of the tournament on Saturday 4/15, the Raiders lost to Chattanooga Red Bank 7-2. Red Bank scored one run in the first and second innings followed by three in the third inning to go up 5-0. The Raiders scored one run in the 4th off a double by Bryson Dobbs. Dobbs had two hits for the Raiders. Stewart, Cashion, Ben Fletcher, Womble, and Burnett each had a hit. Dylan Knight pitched two innings giving up two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking 0. Hunter Brown relieved Knight in the third giving up five runs on three hits, striking out three and walking 0. The Raiders made seven errors in the game
