Moore County (2-0) takes to the road for the first time, facing the unbeaten Cornersville Bulldogs (2-0). It is also the first Class 1A, Region 5 game for the two teams.
So the Raiders have plenty of reason to be focused tonight.
“Extremely good football team,” coach Kris White said of Cornersville. “Very well-coached. Fundamental. We’re going to have our hands full with them. We’ll have to play a lot better than we have the last two weeks to beat them.
“We got a tough test ahead of us.”
Neither the Raiders nor the Bulldogs have been tested in their wins. Moore County beat Cascade 15-0 and Community 41-8 while Cornersville beat Community 36-6 and Eagleville 35-13. The Raiders were dominant on defense in the first two games and they’ll get a challenge from the Bulldogs’ offense.
Tyler Smith leads the Moore County ground game with 175 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. Quarterback Kyler Parker has 103 yards on 19 carries. Parker is 7-of-15 passing for 157 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. Dylan Scruggs and Kaden White each have four catches, for 65 and 47 yards, respectively.
Donnie Pearson leads the defense with 20 tackles and Smith has 17, 3.5 for losses. Kaden White and Dawson White have 11 stops each. Smith, Kaden White and Brayden Cashion have interceptions.
The game is scheduled to live stream on MCSN/NFHS and air on FM-95.9, 105.1. Tickets are available at the gate and Cornersville is not limiting the number of fans who attend.
