Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) officials announced on Wednesday that Moore County High School senior Raiderette Rachel Garland is one of three finalists for the Class A Miss Basketball Award.
A statewide committee of sportswriters selected finalists based on performance during the 2011-2012 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration. High school head basketball coaches and members of the media nominated the finalists.
Other Class A Miss Basketball finalists are Lake County’s T.T. Flowers and Wayne County’s Kelsey Risner.
Garland was also a finalist for the 2010-11 Class A Miss Basketball title. The presentation of the Miss Basketball Awards for Division I, Classes A will be given during the championship awards ceremony on Saturday, March 10 at the Murphy Center on the campus of Middle Tennessee State University.
