Another big lead turned into another big win for the Moore County Raiderettes. Senior Sarah Raby scored 12 points in the first quarter en route to a 28-point night as the Moore County girls routed Middle Tennessee Christian School 52-32 Friday night at the MCHS gymnasium.
Moore County got 3-pointers from Erica Limbaugh, Erin Thomas and Makayla Ray in the opening period as well, helping the Raiderettes race to a 23-8 lead. After the Moore County defense held Middle Tennessee Christian to just six points in the second quarter, the outcome was never in doubt.
MTCS simply didn’t have an answer for Raby.
The Trevecca signee had 16 points by intermission, outscoring the Lady Cougars by herself. She added 12 points in the third quarter and went scoreless in the final frame, well after the outcome was settled.
Erin Thomas was the only other Raiderette in double figures for Moore County. She finished with 10 points, all in the first half. Savannah Williams added six, while Ray and Limbaugh netted three apiece.
Williams and Raby were the only Raiderettes to score in the second half.
Moore County’s defense was just as strong in the third quarter, holding MTCS to five in the third quarter to eliminate any hope of a Cougars’ rally.
Abby Sweeney led eight MTCS players in scoring with seven points.
