Another one of Moore County High School’s students has accepted an athletic scholarship to a top-notch school and will continue in the field of athletics. Kyler Parker will be a quarterback for Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he intends to major in Communications. He is the proud recipient of the James W. Wilson Jr. Merit Scholarship, and his brilliance on and off the football and baseball fields have given him an impressive reputation. He is a 4.0 student who was a TN Mr. Football finalist and was named Lakeway Publishers’ Middle Tennessee First Team Offense and Player of the Year. He has also been awarded the title of All-Region Offensive Player of the Year and All-State Quarterback.
While these many titles are testaments to his gifts, he is also known as a member of the Moore County Sports Broadcasting team, a treasurer for the National Honor Society, and Vice President of the Student Council. Outside of school, he is actively involved in the youth group at Rutledge Falls Baptist Church.
In response to this success, Parker stated, “I am extremely excited for this new opportunity in my life. Dreams most definitely come true. I’d like to thank the community of Moore County for helping me do so.”
His coach Kris White added, “Kyler Parker is the ultimate competitor. His will to win is contagious and we saw that this year by the way he led our team. He is the type of player and person kids will follow because he does things the right way and all he does is want to win no matter what he has to sacrifice in order to achieve the victory.”
He hopes to one day go into the field of Broadcasting, and we wish him the best of luck in his endeavors. Tyler Smith, another one of Moore County’s student, has also signed a football scholarship, and he will be featured in next week’s edition of The Moore County News. Congratulations to our athletes!
