TULLAHOMA — One person was killed and a second person was in critical condition Monday afternoon following a three-vehicle crash Monday morning near AEDC.
According to a report by Tennessee Highway Patrol officer Harrison Fisher, John T. Anderkin, 44, of Estill Springs, was killed when his 2011 Chevrolet Impala was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck operated by Jamie Vaughn, 27, of Lynchburg.
According to the trooper’s report, around 6:45 a.m. Monday, Vaughn was traveling south on Wattendorf Memorial Highway when he crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Jason E. Lusk, 37, of Winchester.
Lusk was uninjured in the accident, according to the report.
Vaughn’s vehicle then struck Anderkin’s vehicle head on, according to the report. The Estill Springs resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
Vaughn was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where a spokesperson said Monday afternoon that his condition is listed as critical.
Drivers traveling to Arnold Air Force Base were rerouted around the wreck while the THP investigated the crash. The troopers are continuing to investigate the accident, and according to the trooper’s report, charges are pending.
