Beginning next week, the Moore County News plans to move back to a publication schedule more in line with what longtime readers are used to.
In an effort to satisfy its growing readership, The News will once again be available on Wednesday’s at both area dealers and in news racks beginning with the June 19 issue. The paper will be mailed on Wednesday as well, so most local subscribers will once again enjoy Thursday delivery.
“People spoke and we listened,” said Robert Holman, publisher of The News. “I think it’s certainly a positive move that our readers will like.”
With the change in delivery comes a change in deadlines as well.
Both editorial and advertising deadlines will have to be moved to Monday. The deadline for advertising copy is 2 p.m., while the deadline for editorial copy, including obituaries, birth announcements, wedding announcements and information for the Community Calendar will be 5 p.m. on Mondays.
“Of course we know there can always be a unique situation that may require us to adjust those deadlines from week to week, and we are prepared to do that if the case arises,” added Holman, “but we think this will be a very beneficial change.”
