The Moore County Middle School Raiders (0-2) traveled to Cascade to play the middle school Champions (3-0) last Thursday night – falling 28-8 in the second game of the season.
A severe thunderstorm delayed the game by an hour and a half.
The Champions displayed an impressive passing attack – mounting 262 passing yards against the Raiders.
Just two plays into the game, quarterback Hunter Calvert connected with Kevin Conn for an 83-yard touchdown pass play – earning a 6-0 lead. In the second quarter, Conn caught a 56-yard pass from Hayden Edmondson. As he headed toward the end zone, Conn fumbled but teammate Lane Stacey scooped it up and scored six. At the half, CMS led 14-0.
The Champions scored again in the third on a run from Calvert to make it 22-0.
Moore County got on the board midway through the final quarter in a 10-play series that ate up a lot of clock. Austin Holdmeyer ran in for the TD. Issac Holt converted the two-point conversion to make it 22-8 with 6:05 remaining.
Cascade quickly answered; however, with a rushing TD from Edmondson. The final score was Cascade 28, Moore County 8.
MCMS plays at home this week – taking on Community at Raider Stadium on Thursday. Kick off is a 6:30 p.m.
