Elam became interested in Davy Crockett over three years ago, when he realized that the American folk hero had lived in both his current location, Moore County, and the area in which he grew up, Gibson County in west Tennessee. Elam’s discussion will connect the dots between these historical places in the Crockett timeline.
An avid historian and genealogist since 1970, Elam has researched into his own family history and contributed several chapters in a book on the Elam family after consulting with professionals on the family genealogy.
Rudy is married to Lynchburg native Dorothy Holt Elam and retired from Arnold Engineering Development Center, where he worked for 40 years as an electrical engineer and a systems engineer.
The meeting will take place at the Masonic Hall in Lynchburg at 2 p.m. It’s free and open to the general public.
