The MCHS tennis teams swept past Mount Pleasant on Monday. The boys took a 4-3 win as Giancarlo Cella posted an 8-3 win at No. 1 to lead the way. Ethan Holt captured an 8-6 victory at No. 3 singles and at No. 4 Nate Love outlasted his opponent 8-8, 8-6. Evan McKenzie won by disqualification at No. 5 singles. The Moore County girls took a 4-3 win as well. Taylor Holcomb and Kinsley Logan each took 8-3 wins and Katie Thomas grabbed an 8-1 win. In doubles, Logan/Holcomb teamed for a decisive 8-1 win. Last week, the girls took a big win over Franklin County, offsetting two boys and one girl’s loss, also to Franklin County. The girls took a 4-3 win as Hailee Trott took an 8-6 win at No. 1 singles to get the Raiderettes off to a good start. Caroline Hammond took an 8-4 win at No. 2 and Jana Ledbetter dominated at No. 4 with an 8-1 win. Hammond and Ledbetter captured a big No. 2 doubles win with an 8-6 decision. In other matches, the girls lost 7-0 to Franklin County and the boys dropped a 6-1 decision, with Cella and Garrett Jennings managing an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles for the boys’ point. The boys dropped a 4-3 tough decision to Franklin County on April 12. Cella grabbed an 8-3 win at No. 1 singles, Jennings took an 8-6 win at No. 2 singles and McKenzie pulled out a 9-7 win at No. 3 singles.
