For several years the Moore County School System has used a free program (1-411) to send text message updates to anyone who subscribed. In November, this particular program was no longer available for free use.
In response — and in an effort to continue sending text alerts and updates for no charge — the school system has changed to a new service announced Moore County Director of Schools Chad Moorehead.
“Please help us spread the word regarding the change to a new method to deliver these messages,” said Moorehead in a release. “We will now attempt to use ‘Remind101’ to deliver these messages as a free service. You can subscribe to receive either text messages or emails on this system.”
Standard text message rates based on individual’s cellular carrier and service will apply.
The system will continue to be used to announce school closings, employment opportunities and other similar types of announcements.
