TULLAHOMA – The Moore County High School boys basketball team fell to the Walker High School Vikings from Jasper, Ala., 61-50 on the opening day of the Tullahoma Thanksgiving Classic.
At Tullahoma High School on Friday afternoon, the Raiders had trouble handling the ball. With turnovers hampering MCHS in the second quarter and the Raiders unable to match the Vikings’ speed, Walker built an 18-point halftime lead.
Moore County rallied in the second half beyond 3-pointers from Chris Nix, Ryan Northcutt and Doran Noble, but after cutting the lead to eight points midway through the fourth period, the Raiders couldn’t get any closer.
Northcutt scored 13 points to lead MCHS, while Nix added nine and James Dougherty and Jay Layman netted six apiece. Dillon Davis and Noble finished with four each; Will Slatton and Jordan Barrier had three apiece; and Blydge Farrar scored two.
Moore County is scheduled to play at 9 a..m. Saturday against Skyline High School, of Scottboro, Ala. The Raiders will play again at either 3:40 p.m. or 5:20 p.m. Saturday, depending on how the four teams in the Classic are paired after their first two games.
