The loss marked the end of a season full of struggles for the Raiders and first year coach Darren James, who finished 2-13 on the season. The Raiders; lone win on the field was a 13-3 victory over Westwood on Feb. 25. The other win came via forfeit over Cornersville a month later.
“Our biggest obstacle as a team was just confidence,” said James. “We had six games where we had the lead or were tied and we blew it in the seventh inning. One little mistake turns into a big mistake.
“I thought we hit the ball much better late in the season than we did early in the year.”
In the tournament play-in game, one bad inning doomed the Raiders. Moore County issued six walks, committed three errors and gave up seven runs in the fourth inning. The Raiders never recovered and Community held on to advance in the tournament.
