Moore Co. girls AAU team finishes 4th in the nation

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Moore County Raiderettes 10th grade AAU basketball team recently competed in the AAU National Championship Tournament in Orlando, Fla., at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Disney World.

Although the team is a Div. II team, they competed in the Div. I National Championship Tournament and finished fourth in the nation.

The team competed against some of the top teams and players in the country, including teams from Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Maryland, Florida and North Carolina. They defeated the Div. I state champion North Carolina Panthers 58-48 before falling to the Jacksonville (Fla.) Lady Rams in the semifinals.

The team, coached by Eddie Helton, includes Haley Henshaw, Mika Rainey, Kinsley Logan, Faith Cauble, Grace Cauble, Katie Thomas and Taylor Holcomb, all from Moore County, along with Caylee McLennan, Lacey Reed and Karah Snell.
