World War II U.S. Air Force veteran Ike Farrar of Flat Creek will receive a military recognition for his military service at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) Tuesday, July 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Administration and Engineering (A&E) building lobby.
Farrar was recognized by the U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh for his lifetime of service to his community, the military and the nation on behalf of the 690,000 men and women of the U.S. Air Force.
Maj. Gen. Arnold Bunch, the Air Force Test Center commander, will present the A.F. Chief of Staff Appreciation Letter as well as other presentations.
Farrar, a retired Major, served in the Pacific flying transport and medical missions providing urgent medical support during World War II.
Farrar recently received a proclamation, presented by Bedford County Mayor Eugene Ray, where January 20 will be known as Ike Farrar Day in Bedford County in honor of his military and community service.
