MCHS student killed in early morning Ledford Mill wreck

A Moore County High School junior died early Wednesday morning in a two vehicle accident in the Ledford Mill area.

MCHS student Joe Strasler died in a car accident early Wednesday morning.

According to a report by Tennessee Highway Patrol officer Jackie Smith, around 7:45 a.m. a 1994 Ford pickup operated by Joseph Strasler of Ledford Mill Road collided with a 2003 Chevrolet pickup operated by Harold Collinsworth, 54, of Bottle Hollow Road, Shelbyville.

According to the trooper’s report, Strasler’s vehicle ran off the right side of Ledford Mill Road while he was negotiating a curve. The report states that he overcorrected, went back on the roadway, crossed the centerline and struck the Collinsworth vehicle head on. Emergency officials worked for about half an hour to free Strasler from the wreckage. He was transported to Harton Regional Medical Center where he later died, according to the report.

Collinsworth was not transported to the hospital, according to reports.

Joe was the son of Jon and Dede Strasler and a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the Moore County High School Baseball Team.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 1 from 5-9 p.m. at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, February 1 at 11 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma with Bro. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Moore County High School Baseball Diamond Club Account at Traders National Bank.
