LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — The Moore County High School cross country team is scheduled to compete in the annual Voyles Classic in Smyrna on Saturday. The annual meet brings together some of the state’s top distance runners and more than 200 typically enter the event. It’s one of the largest meets the Moore County runners will compete in all season.
This year’s Moore County High School girls team includes Taylor Holcomb, Hailee Trott, Hunter Bohanon, Jacey Burton and Katie Thomas.
Head coach Sharon Thomas has added a boys squad this year as well. Jimmy Stewart and Michael Sisk make up the school’s first-ever boys cross country duo.
Following this weekend’s race in Smyrna, Moore County is slated to compete at Henry Horton State Park on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and against Coffee County on Sept. 13. Other events on the schedule include Fayetteville on Sept. 20, and Invitational meet with Community on Sept. 26, followed by a meet with Cascade. The schedule is subject to change.
This marks the third season for the MCHS cross country team, which began with the girls squad for two years and now includes both girls and boys.
