Springtime is near, signaling the return of the nation’s largest annual community improvement program, the Great American Cleanup (GAC), sponsored by Keep America Beautiful (KAB).
Last year, over 143,000 Tennessee volunteers contributed 358,240 hours picking up 121,098,794 pounds of litter and debris from all 95 counties (visit www.ktnb.org/gac.html for more results).
Keep Tennessee Beautiful (KTnB) will once again look for improvement during this year’s GAC in Tennessee, which will take place from March 1 to May 31. KTnB also will look to extend its streak of achieving 100-percent participation from all 95 counties during GAC to six years in a row.
Last year in Moore County, a total of 50 volunteers gathered 240 pounds of litter during KAB’s annual spring event. Moore County seeks more volunteers this year to be even more successful.
“The citizens of Tennessee have shown their dedication to keep our state clean, green, and beautiful over the past few years. I know that with the cooperation of our volunteer network across the state, we will accomplish even more this year,” said Keep Tennessee Beautiful Executive Director Sutton Mora Hayes.
