Ervin, Max Gore, 85, of Lynchburg, passed away Feb. 12, 2014 at his residence. He was a US Army Korean veteran. He enjoyed fishing, whittling and working with the Boy Scouts. He loved the funeral business and enjoyed working with Harrison Funeral Home. He was an independent Nationwide Insurance agent who also owned and operated Ervin Men’s Store on the square in Lynchburg. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jesse Ewell Ervin and Lena Gore Ervin; his first wife, Evelyn Ervin; brothers, Ewin, Milton, Robert, Wade and Wayne; and sister, Rachel White. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Price Ervin; sons, Gore (Bonnie) Ervin Jr., of Murfreesboro and Robert Davis Ervin, of Coco Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Mary Ann (Matthew) McQueen, of Metairie, La.; grandchildren, Robert Dwayne Ervin, Elizabeth Ervin and Brian Ervin; sister, Daphana Hill, of Lynchburg. Visitation was held Friday at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Lee and Rev. Jack Hice officiating. Interment followed at County Line Cemetery. Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
