Mary Isabell Hood arrived into this world on July 6, 1922 and departed into God’s hands June 9 at 89 years old. Mary Isabell Johnson married James L. “Len” Hood, Sr. on August 24, 1963. They were married for 34 years. Mary and Len lived on Tim’s Ford Lake in Tennessee where together they built their retirement home. Mary was active in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She devoted her time to volunteering at the local library reading to children, making handiwork and volunteering time at the Lynchburg Ladies Handiwork in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Mary’s photograph was published in Jack Daniel’s Hometown Celebration Cookbook Volume II on page 85. Mary received a Certificate of Recognition for her outstanding contributions to Moore County J.C.E. Clubs from the University of Tennessee Agriculture Extension Service. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Mary and Len divorced on June 4, 1997. Mary moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon in 1998 where she participated at the Lake Oswego Senior Center. Mary enjoyed volunteering at Lewis River campground in Washington. Mary moved into assisted living in West Linn. She then moved to Oregon City, Oregon in an Alzheimer’s unit, which was very heartbreaking when her photo was taken, published and sold in a calendar without permission. Mt.
