Officials from the Mach Tenn Running Club and Jack Daniel Distillery gathered at the Jack Daniel’s Visitors Center last month to distribute monies from the annual Oak Barrel Half Marathon, which was held in early April. The two parties donated a total of $11,000 to a number of area clubs and charities, including Moore Care; Middle Tennessee Spay and Neuter Clinic; Moore County Volunteer Fire Department; the Moore County High School HOSA club; Franklin County Humane Society; Moore County Senior Center; the local soup kitchen; MCHS Project Graduation; Relay For Life; Motlow Nursing Program; American Heritage Girls; and the Boy Scouts. Many of the clubs worked water and break stations during the race. The Mach Tenn Running Club, with help from the distillery, has made the annual event one of Middle Tennessee’s premier half marathons.
